Dr. Brian E. Mears

DR. BRIAN E. MEARS

Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology

Dr. Mears is a native of Lizella, Georgia. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a BS in Microbiology. Dr. Mears subsequently graduated from the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University as a dual degree DMD/MBA recipient. He was awarded DMD with distinction in research, reflecting his extra-curricular commitment to research activities in addition to his clinical training. Dr. Mears was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies and awarded senior achievement in periodontics upon his graduation. Dr. Mears completed his training in periodontics at Augusta University.

Dr. Mears is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He holds the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor at the Dental College of Georgia. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Southern Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Academy of Facial Esthetics. Dr. Mears is trained in all aspects of periodontal and implant surgery. He has extensive training in IV sedation, periodontal regeneration techniques, sinus augmentation procedures, laser assisted periodontal therapy, bone grafting for ridge augmentation, dental implant therapy, utilization of botulinum toxin for treatment of “gummy” smiles and dermal filler for treatment of “black triangles”.

Dr. Mears and his wife, Maggie, have a son and two Bassett hounds. He enjoys spending time in the mountains, sporting clays, and golfing. Dr. Mears is a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.
